Samba

Introduction

Samba is a Latin dance from Brazil.

A precursor to Samba, called Maxixe (pronounced "ma-sheesh"), was popular around the world in the 1910s.

The name changed to Samba in the 1920s, and the dance gained newfound popularity under this name in the 1940s.
