All Change Walk

(London, 1939)



General Description

This is a walking mixer composed by C. J. Daniels in 1939.


The Position

Stand side by side, facing LOD, with no hands.


The Dance

Part I - Forward and Back (4 bars): Walk forward three steps (1, 2, 3) and point inside foot (4). Then walk backward three steps (5, 6, 7), and point outside foot (8). Swing arms opposite legs, with elbows bent.

Part II - Cast Away and Change Partners (4 bars): Strut away from partner, side (1), cross in front (2), side (3), and point inside foot (4). Then Follow struts back in to place as the Lead struts back in to the next Follow (in front of his previous partner), side (5), cross in front (6), side (7), and point outside foot (8)

Part III - Balance and Stamp, Strut and Clap (4 bars): Taking two hands with partner, Lead facing out of center, step side along LOD (1), close without weight (and), step side against LOD (2), and close without weight (and). Then pause (3), stamp left (and), stamp right (4). Then both strut forward along LOD, "slightly facing partner," with a syncopated clap: step on 5, 6, 7, 8, clapping on the "and" after each.

Part IV - Vis à Vis and Swing (4 bars): Taking inside hands, step forward along LOD, slightly facing away from partner (1), and point inside foot (2). Then step side along LOD, facing partner and taking hold of Follow's waist (3), and point outside foot (4). Then walk four steps forward around partner counterclockwise (5, 6, 7, 8).

Repeat.
